Atheist Hitchens Seeks Help From Christian Doctor to Battle Cancer

With death in the forefront of Christopher Hitchens seeking treatment from Dr. Francis Collins, an evangelical American scientitst, may be a leap of faith. The treatment has been simply labeled “an experiment,” which will require Hitchens to take one pill everyday.

According to the doctor, the pill will attack the canerous DNA cells head on without affecting the healthy cells. If the treatment works then it will be a break through, but if the treatment fails Hitchens will have to continue fighting the cancer through chemotherapy like many other cancer patients.

Recieving help from an unlikely candidate like Collins was due to the relationship formed after Hitchens debated him about the existence of God. Although Hitchens has not considered becoming a believer, he still hopes that the treatment from the Christian doctor will help him extend life past the age of 61.
