Is the Game a Christian Rapper Now?

The rapper “Game” or real name Jayceon Taylor enjoys the hip-hop scene. He doesn’t just rap about it, but he lives it. So how can he be a Christian? According to Game, he can be a Christian and still “remian himself.”

The former gangster rapper from Compton gain mainstream recognition when hip-hop mogul 50 Cent put him on G-Unit. After his rap career took off he took the mask off.

Soon both were in a potential shooting match. Fortunately, both decided to squash the feud to avoid another deadly beef like 2Pac and Biggie. Sadly, the Game took another route and started a “G-Unot campaign” to ruin 50 Cent’s record label.

The disrespect lasted for years. Both camps spilled venomous words and rumors about each other and each other’s group members. Now, the Game at age 32 feels Christianity is the better path. He even gave a small testimony at his church in 2011 about his belief.

He even said that working with 50 Cent again is a possibility. This more than likely will not happen anytime soon. Instead he is focusing on his next album called Jesus Piece.

“Jesus Piece gives me an opportunity,” he said. “To speak about situations that people like me who love God but are still street and still wanna remain themselves without going the Pastor Mase route.”

Does this mean the Game is a Christian rapper now? Not exactly!

If his new single titled “Celebration” is any indicator of his new faith then let’s raise our eyebrows. In the song, he along with Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, and other artists rap about smoking, drinking, money, and women.

Although this is another typical mainstream rap song, it’s still great he is attending church and learning about God. However, let’s hope this isn’t just another act.

Let’s hope Game continues to learn more about God. Who knows maybe next year he can find new rap artists to collab with like Lacrae or Propaganda.

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, 12 training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, 13 waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.
